when i use the tv out function on a tv it does not work when you play a game.
it works in the menu but when when you go to a game it makes the screen black and white or crash or display some other odd glitches.
i'm using the 1.2 custom firmware.

I will try this and see what happens on mine thanks for letting us know.
TV out works on mine (CFW 1.3). I have switched from PAL to NTSC as I still have an older Sony smart TV from the US, but if I leave the game the software crashes (no big deal though). Only thing I really dislike is that there is a corona around all the moving sprites. Have to try on my PAL unit (not sure though if it has RCA in). Does anyone know if those RCA to HDMI adapters is worth buying?
Its still a known issue and needs to be looked at as tv out never worked on the original firmware either.
